About Me

Elmwood Village, Buffalo
Writing from a perch in
Richmond, CA -- home to
Rosie the Riveter!
I am a first generation Cuban-American, lover of all-thing Cuban AND all-things American! I follow politics, history and American culture, and am an amateur anthropologist. In my spare time I knit, crochet, love to cook and drink beer, listen to folk music from all around the world, visit exhibits of American folk culture and work hard to raise a happy, healthy bi-lingual and bi-cultural 8-year-old. While the S.F. Bay Area is home, I am fortunate to have lived in a number of great American cities. Buffalo, NY rocks, by the way!

I am a passionate Unitarian-Universalist, believing in the saving grace of embracing theological difference and diversity. When I am not volunteering to help strengthen the Unitarian Church in Transylvania, I can found at my daughter's wonderful Spanish immersion, International Baccalaureate school -- Escuela Bilingüe Internacional. I also work through the Brown University Alumni Association in outreach efforts to Latino High School students.

Patillas, Puerto Rico -- Paradise!
Empanadas
In my working life I am making a transition from years of working for Head Start programs, to beginning a graduate school program in Library and Information Systems.

I love knitting baby blankets!
West Coast beer
I love my wonderful husband and daughter!
