Anyone else a little bit perturbed that former Republican Utah governor Jon Huntsman is resigning his (very important) position as Ambassador to China in advance of a potential run for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012?
I may be old fashioned, but I remember thinking about this when the nomination was announced: that in accepting this position, a Republican was choosing to serve the people and the United States government on behalf of a Democratic president. And that with the decision came a need to display a sense of public loyalty that might not be necessary if he were a Democrat. If you don’t want to do that, don’t take the job. And if you can’t do it because you really want to be doing something else – like running for President against your boss’s boss, please, please don’t take the job. Because you won't do the job well.
Not a class act.
